What is the Esther & Harold Mertz Foundation?
The Esther & Harold Mertz Foundation is a Section 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization supporting other not-for-profit organizations who provide assistance in the following areas: Education, Medical, and Recreational, most especially when supported by Faith-based churches and associations.
Does the Foundation fund organizations that receive Government Funding and Support?
The Foundation seeks to serve organizations that receive no government or municipal financing.
I do not have my approved Section 501 (c) (3) by the IRS. Can I still apply?
The Foundation does not accept applications without an approved IRS letter designating not-for-profit status.
Does the Foundation accept applications from individuals?
The Foundation only accepts applications from not-for-profit organizations.
Does the Foundation accept applications that support political activities or to lobby for particular legislation?
The Foundation does not accept applications from organizations whose goal is to further political agendas, including lobbyists or political activist groups.
Does the Foundation accept applications from International Organizations?
The Foundation’s goal and mission is to serve the citizens of the United States.
How soon after I submit a pre-application will I hear from your organization?
The Foundation attempts to respond within thirty days if the application contains all the required information. We may require a site visit before final approval.
Once our application has been approved, how long before we receive a check?
Generally, we try to issue checks on a quarterly basis after the Board of Directors have given their approval.
After receipt of funding, do we need to do anything further?
Under the Foundation’s guidelines, all grants and donations are reviewed to ensure that funds were used for the purpose requested and that the programs funded were effective and served their mission.
